The long-term treasurer and church warden Valery Sergeevich Chekanov died on Saturday.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. The funeral and panihida will take place at 11:45 a.m. at the Resurrection Cemetery. The memorial luncheon will begin at 1:15 p.m. in the church hall.
Professor and cardio surgeon Valery Sergeevich Chekanov (7 Dec, 1939 – 28 Oct, 2023).
Valery was born in Yaroslavl, Russia.
Graduated From The Yaroslavl Medical Institute (1957-63).
Worked as a general surgeon in Gryazovets, Russia (1963-65).
He defended his thesis on cardiovascular surgery at the Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery (1965-68).
He worked at the Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Bakuleva (1968-93).
Milwaukee Heart Institute (1993-2011).
Taught at the Center for Invasive Cardiology (2013-2016).
Loving husband, married to Irina Gennadievna Chekanova for 47 years. Valery and Irina left behind their grandchildren Alexander and Ekaterina Chekanov.
